According to the directions on a can of frozen juice concentrate,1 can of concentrate is to be mixed with 3 cans of water to make orange juice. How many 12-ounce cans of the concentrate are required to prepare 200 6-ounce servings of orange juice?
Answer is 25

All of the stocks on the over-the counter market are designated by either a 4-letter or a 5-letter code that is created by using the 26 letters of the alphabet.Which of the following gives the maximum number of different stocks that can be designated with these codes?
a)2(26^5)

IMO 25

1 can concentrate + 3 cans of water = 1 orange juice

let the number of can be X

there fore

12 X + 36 X = 1200 ( 200 * 6 ounces)

solve for X

hence 25.

Hi,

now the ratio of orange juice to water is 1:3

total orange juice is 6 ounce serving * 200 = 1200 ounces of orange juice

this means 300 ounces of orange juice and 900 ounces of water ( ratio 1:3)

300 ounces / 12 ( can size) =25

hope this helps

IMO 27( 26^4)

All of the stocks on the over-the counter market are designated by either a 4-letter or a 5-letter code that is created by using the 26 letters of the alphabet.Which of the following gives the maximum number of different stocks that can be designated with these codes

Maximum no. of 4 letter words out 26 words.. is 26^4
Maximum no. of 5 letter words out 26 words.. is 26^5

hence the total is

26^4 + 26^5

26^4( 1 + 26)

27*26^4

do let me know if u have any doubts..

1c+3w=4parts

200*6=1200
1200/12=100 parts

100/4=25

thus 25*1=25 cans of concentrate
25*3=75 cans of water

You can also see it like this:
1/4 of the quantity of orange juice is concentrate so
Use 300 concentrate and 900 water to make 1200 once of orange juice

and 300 divided by 12 is 25

You may find the second one question on the forum.
