As per my understanding we have to find the ration of cookies in green tin to cookies in other tins (blue + red) but the explanation says it is the ration of cookies in green tin to cookies in green + red tin???

red= 1/3
G+B=2/3
B=1/4 so 2/3-1/4=5/12
thus G=5 parts
R=3
and blue =4
the importance is that you have to understand the last sentence,,,we have to find the faction of geen/(green+blue)
it is 5/9

Dude, as per ur logic, it would be 5/8 and not 5/9.
green = 5/12,
blue = 1/4 and red = 1/3.

green/ (green + blue) = 5/12 /(5/12 + 1/4)
=>5/8 and it is not an option.

The language of the last sentence is controversial to me. What fraction of cookies are der in green tin as compared to cookies in others (i.e Blue + Red). This should be 5/7.

The answer is C and this question seems alright.
In the last sentence the question is asking the fraction of other tins(Red+Green) and Green.
Red= 1/3
Blue = 1/4
Green = 5/12

Answer = Green/(Red+Green)
5/12*12/9
= 5/9
