Hi.. All

Need help in below SC problems

1.)

1) Basically A, B, D, and E are incorrect because the prepositions that begin these answer choices do not fit the context of the sentence.

2) A) "doing it" is ambiguous
B) "did it" incorrect tense
C) Pronoun ambiguity (them could refer to settlers or homes)
E) "making do..." can't modify "homes' which is the subject of that clause since settlers' is possessive.

my pick is
1 = D: , at 1833 founding seems awkward
2- D. , who are making do (managing) = settlers
