Sentence Correction

Now I am confused. Gmat paper tests are known to have lot of errors.

Which one is correct and which one isnt only GMAT knows.

To add to the 'and' debate -

Some compounds, which are cliches are so inseprable that they are considered one unit-

Eg - the long an short of it is...

Bread and butter was all she served...

Give and take is essential to ...

"Skill and precision" is one unit or not.
What would we prefer "is" or "are"

Its very simple to say "skill" and "precision" refer to the same person and hence singular, move on but...

Is it written any where or any source which could help us

or we just say "skill" and "precision" form one group and we move on....

How could they form one group? They aren't related. Skill is ability; precision is exactness.
