Hi!

First, I'm not sure if the image I uploaded will work - for some reason the IMG uploader isn't giving me any love! So, I've attached it as a document as well.

In any case, let's break the question down.

We're told that ABC are 3 points in the coordinate plane that do not form a straight line. So, they must form a triangle.

We're asked whether the line BC has a negative slope, i.e. does it go from top left to bottom right.

To the statements!

(1) the slope of AB is -1; so, AB does have a negative slope.

Could we draw BC so it does have a negative slope? Sure. Could we draw it with a positive slope? Also sure. Therefore, (1) is insufficient.

(2) Angle ABC is 37 degrees.

With no other info, this tells us nothing about the slope of BC - insufficient.

We've eliminated A, B and D - now we have to combine the statements.

Even together, we can draw BC with either a positive or negative slope (you can see how in the attached image), so we still can't definitively answer the original question.

Not enough information - choose E!
