I believe the correct answer is A. This is a modifier question. The beginning of the sentence is a modifying clause, immediately following the comma should be the subject that the clause is modifying. The clause is modifying Julia, and choice A is the only choice that has Julia immediately after the comma.

where did you get this question from? gmat questions usually have a 2-3 split between the answer choices. In this case only one choice followed the most basic of rules, hence this was very easy to crack. In the long run you're right, but if this problem gave the poster difficulty, this may be the appropriate difficulty level at this time.
