I am not able to make second equation

Jennifer has 60 dollars more than Brian. If she were to give Brian 1/5 of her money, Brian would have 25% less than the amount that Jennifer would then have. How much money does Jennifer have?

IMO B

Let the amount of money jennifer has be J and amount of money brian has be B

So, J-B = 100...(1)

If she were to give 1/5th of her money...which means

J -J/5 = B +J/5

2nd Part says...Brian would have 25% less than what jenifer has which means...after she gives money...

Brian = .75 Jenifer ....

So , B + J/5 = .75 (J-J/5)....(2)

Solving 1 & 2 ...we get [spoiler]J=100 ...B= 40...[/spoiler]

Answer is right but u wrote wrong equation here :


It should be j-b =60--(1)

I also made minor mistake and got wrong answer with right equations :(

Let Jennifer has $J and Brian has $B.
Then, J = 60 + B
B + (1/5)J = [J - (1/5)J] - 25% of [J - (1/5)J]
B + (1/5)J = (4/5)J - (1/4)(4/5)J
B + (1/5)J = (3/4)(4/5)J
B = (2/5)J
Solving J = 60 + B and B = (2/5)J for J, we get, J = 60 + (2/5)J or (3/5)J = 60 or J = 100

The correct answer is (B).
