Hi

I just gave my GMAT exam and I scored 690(Q:48, V:35). Though I was expecting little more.
As I am not satisfied with my score, so planning to take GMAT exam again and want to work upon on my Verbal Score.
As I gave the exam I could feel that SC were bouncing back. I dont know why but I was not able to apply any rule in the exam.
As my weak point is SC, I want to know how can I improve my Verbal score from 35 to 42+.
Also I am not looking for any courses, can anyone suggest what all I can do and what all resources I should take to prepare for the same and also for other sections(CR,RC).

During my preparations, following were the resources which I used :

Manhattan SC Guide
700-800 level Sc topic Wise Questions
OG-12
Verbal Review, 2nd Edition.

Also I have taken Manhattan CAT Exam. As I can recall the questions what I have already done so these Manhattan CAT exams will not be of that much help. Can you also suggest some CAT Exams which I can take and which are not very expensive.

There is no guaranteed solution but you can put in your best foot forward. As Ron says, redo the OG this time paying individual attention to all the questions, right answers and wrong answers understanding the rule that was used.

Redo MGMAT guide. There is nothing missing from that guide and if you do that well, your SC should improve.

For CR: If you are interested, you can try the CR Powerscore Bible. Very good book according to me. If you apply the rules well, you should score well in CR too.

RC is a tough area. Just practice reading passages and writing summaries and practicing more.

You should also try improve your Math score. That can make a difference too. Getting 50 will also boost your score.

I assume you are not applying for Fall 2012. If you are, you must look at your overall profile and not just GMAT score.

You might want to consider doing RC every day, as the more English you read, the better you will be able to spot correct English in SC. It's kind of "two for the price of one" studying, but it is time-consuming, so many people do not do that.

Definitely hit the OG again. It has a wealth of information.
