q can be any integer 1,2,3,566, etc.

Insufficient.


Hence E is the answer.

Statement 1:

q^p-1 = 1

q^p-1 = q^0 (any positive no. rest to zero will lead to 1)

so p-1 =0

p= 1

Here we are able to find value of P but this we are not sure of q (it can have any value).

so this is not suff.

Statement 2:
p =1
Insuff.

Statement 1 + 2

both sta. carry same thing (p =1)

So E will be answer
