I think you could be competitive for the Bauer School, despite a low GPA and minimal work experience (?). You did not mention anything about your professional work experience, so it is not possible to definitively comment on your chances. You mention an internship, which would lead me to conclude you have not worked since graduating or have not graduated. If either are the case, it is important for you to express why you are ready for business school now and demonstrate the maturity to handle it. Likewise, your GPA will give the admissions committee grave concern as it reflects on your current level of success in the classroom.

With regards to your recommendations, it is great you have these personal connections to large benefactors of the university. However, do these people really know you? Have they worked with you in a professional capacity? I think the school would rather see one recommendation from your direct supervisor at the Houston Rockets than a letter from someone who doesn't really know you.
