Hello,

Could you please let me know if you think that I have a chance to be admitted to Notre Dame and/or Indiana University. I have ~5yrs of experience (the past three at Goldman Sachs), GMAT score of 640, undergrad GPA 3.6 (economics), great rec letters, lots of volunteer work and extracurriculars. Right now, the biggest problem is that I'm applying to final rounds. . . Any hope?

Dear ZackAttack,

It is possible. It depends on what IU and ND have yielded so far on the folks they have admitted and how well you might fit any holes in their statistics. I think you should go ahead and apply if you are ready (with a strong application, of course). In the event you are rejected, then you can re-apply in R1 next year and get feedback over the summer on where to strengthen your application. In my estimation, I would say your chances are probably a bit better at ND than IU, but you never know as I don't have enough information on you or the schools' applicants pool to say with certainty. If you absolutely want to be in business school this fall, you might look at a few other programs in the area where your GMAT is closer to the average or application volume is not as high.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks so much for your response. I appreciate your thoughts. I did receive notification from ND that I am a [/i]preferred candidate. So, maybe I will focus my efforts there and put together the strongest app that I can. Otherwise, like you said, I will have to target R1 next year.
