Hello Lisa,

Could you please evaluate my profile?

Here it goes:

1.An engineering graduate (Industrial Engineering Management)

GPA : No GPA system in our University
In terms of honor : First Class with Distinction
In terms of Percentage for the last 2 years (4 semesters) : 71%


2.Work Exp : 32 months in IT industry.
[I worked in a Quality Assurance team for the first 21 months. We (my team) did a decent job and blocked a lot of loopholes in the organisation which inturn saved a lot of money to the organisation]

Currently working in Qwest Telecom Software Services as software tester.

3. Extra curriculars:

Was part of my school sports team

Acted as a volunteer during many occasions at my grad coll ( ex - arranging industrial trips/arranging seminars)

Represented my co. as Team Leader @ NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR YOUNG MANAGERS (zonal level)

Core member of my organisation Corporate Social Responsibily (CSRs)
(have done quite a few projects)

Member of sports committee/magazine commitee @ QWEST

lastly - runner for life (have taken part in many local marathon events) / guitar learner

Planning for FALL 09.
Schools - Mc Combs ; UNC ; USC ; Duke. Safe school - Ellar (univ of arizona)
Speciality : General Management


Planning to give GMAT (2nd attempt) in a months time.

Q1 - Is my profile good enough for these schools?

Q2 - If yes, what should my GMAT score be?

Dear AJ,

Your profile has the parts to be competitive. It is how you use them to build a strong overall application that will get an offer of admission. As you are an international applicant from India, you are competing against a subset of these schools' applicant pool. Thus is it important for you to present the BEST possible application.

Your GMAT score needs to be at least at these schools' average GMAT, but it would be better if your score is in the upper 25% for these programs (i.e., above the mid-50% range). For the schools you mention, that would probably be in the 700s.
