Unegrad. GPA 3.7

GMAT: 680 (q45 v 38) awa 5.5 (do not want to retake, as it was my 5th attempt 530->620->640->640->680)

Employment History:

Not sure whether I should try Booth and Columbia.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Overall you have a solid profile. Your GMAT score is a little below the average at the schools on your list, but given this is your best score after many tries I agree that it doesn't seem like the best use of time for you to retake the exam. Your work experience and solid undergrad GPA should certainly help compensate for the lower GMAT score which will help.

I think your biggest challenge might be in convincing the adcom that you need a career change and thus that you really do need to get your MBA. Your job sounds quite impressive and perhaps is even on par with what many MBA grads hope to do down the road after receiving their degree. You'll want to have a very solid and specific reason for wanting this career change as well as why now is the ideal time to do so. I think this will be a very critical component of your application and something you should give a lot of thought to before writing your essays.

In regard to your school selection, you have a list of very competitive programs, however, your work experience and international background will certainly help give you an edge. Again, provided you can clearly explain your post MBA goals and reasons for seeking an MBA you should be in good shape. You'll also want to select essay topics that help you stand out in the pool - be sure to use a balance of examples from inside and outside of the workplace if possible.

Best,

Stacey
