Hello!
Could you please evaluate my profile.
I'm Russian, 29 y.o,

Academics:
Undergraduate major - Humanities (Linguistics), Russian University
Undergraduate GPA: 4.0 (honors diploma)
Spent 1 year studying in Spain as part of student interexchange program.
Postgraduate studies in Political Science and International Relations (PhD in Political Science - 2006).

Work experience:
2005-2006 Translator/Interpreter (Helicopter plant). 1 year in Russia, 6 month in Venezuela
2007-2008 Head of Communications dept, Russian oil company operating in Venezuela (Venezuela)
2008-2009 Head of GR dept, Russian oil company operating in Venezuela (Venezuela)
2010-2011 Consultant, Consulting firm working with Russian companies on their projects in Venezuela, mainly Energy and Development projects. (Venezuela)

GMAT: 700 (Q47, V39)
TOEFL: 111
DELE ('Spanish as a foreign language' test, Superior level)

Languages:
- Russian (native)
- English (advanced)
- Spanish (advanced)
- German (basic)

I'm considering applying to Wharton Lauder program (Spanish track) in Round 1
Can anyone comment on my chances, please?

Hey there bolder,
From what I see here it looks promising. You have moved up quite a bit since your days of being Translator! With your excellent GPA, your unique Russian/Spanish experience combo, things look good. If you can focus on your leadership, and get a bit more out of your community service, that will help give you a boost. Still, keep in mind that the average GMAT is about 20 points higher than yours, but I believe that the uniqueness of your profile should make you rather competitive.

Thanks a lot for your opinion! I really appreciate it.
Do you think I should retake the GMAT and try to raise my score?
I really don't have a lot to say about the community service. I'm afraid I wasn't involved in much of it. Or maybe I just don't quite understand what is meant by this term. Could you give me some clues on what types of community service are schools generally looking for?

Well retaking the GMAT is a tough question, because a lot of the answer depends on how much better you can do, how much quicker, and how much effort it will take you. If you feel you could get at least 20-30 points higher relatively easily, then maybe it's a good idea to go for it. But if now is the right time for you to go, I'd say it's time to forget about the GMAT , and put your energies into the application. Because you might get a lower score when you retake.

Ad for community service, usually we are talking about volunteer work, religious-related items, participating in all sort of community social events.
