Your metrics are solid, although not exceptional. Your challenge will be to explain why you are planning to pursue your MBA now. If you are applying to top-ranked schools, your work experience will be very light compared to the competition. Given that combination and the number of Indian males applying, you would find it very difficult to get into a top twenty school. You would have to give the committee a strong reason for accepting you over someone with 3-5 years' experience at a major corporation.

Also, since you are looking to change fields and pursue finance you will have to be very convincing. You will need to express very clearly why you want to leave the field you have been educated for and pursue a field in which you have no experience. No one can answer that question for you. You must ask yourself why the change, why finance fits your interests and abilities and why you believe you will be successful in the field.

Schools are very reluctant to accept people with your level of experience. Without corporate experience you would be at a great disadvantage in the classroom. Your classmates would have far more practical knowledge than you would. Also, business schools, especially those that use the case method, rely on the contributions of the students to bring out all sides of an issue. Without any business background you would not be able to contribute practically to the discussion and that would reduce the learning for everyone in the class. Finally, without practical experience you would have no real frame of reference from which to evaluate the classroom material. Your own learning would be considerably reduced.

There are some schools that accept a small number of people without business experience. You can check out the class profiles for your target schools to see whether there are many people with your level of experience. Many schoo9ls post work experience requirement on their website. You can also email the admissions department of a school directly and ask whether they accept people with little or no experience.

Since I am not in a position to change my GMAT scores, my essays and resume are going to make or break my application.

Most schools insist that the essays should contain my own work. In this situation, can I engage professional help who can review my essays and suggest changes to them.

Would it cause any problem if the schools came to know that I have used professional help.
