GMAT - 660(Q49 V31)

Work Experience: 7 years

Indian female, 28 years
Currently working in Japan in software department as Assitant Vice President with Japan based investment bank.
Good international exposure, working with people of different cultures and backgrounds.


Achievements at work:

"¢ Received GEM(Going Extra Mile) Award In Polaris Software Lab Ltd
"¢ Conferred with the Best Programmer Award in my first job after graduation.
"¢ Got AVP and team lead title in short span of time.
"¢ Managing team in different locations including HK, Tokyo and India.

Academic Qualifications

"¢ Bachelor of Engineering (Information & Communication Technology) 1999 - 2003 with a GPA of 3.6/4.0

"¢ Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (Central Board of Secondary Education)
with an overall score of 83%

"¢ Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Central Board of Secondary Education)
with an overall score of 80%

I would like to do full time MBA in finance with my investment banking back ground.
I know my GMAT score it quite low to get into top business shools.
I would like to know my chances in London business school, Manchester business school, Cranfield and Kellogg.

I request you to please guide me.

Dear smartm0ve,

While you have positives to your profile like your work experience and GPA, there are some potential concerns in your profile also in terms of your competitiveness for the schools you noted. Your GMAT score is in range for these schools, but below average. As an international applicant, you will be at a disadvantage with a GMAT below average. Your quant score is competitive, but your verbal on the GMAT is low. I encourage you to consider retaking the GMAT and trying to get your verbal score up, which will then (hopefully) increase your total score closer to 700. Secondly, you did not note any activities outside of work, so it is not clear if you have any extracurriculars or community activities of note. It is important to demonstrate you are well-rounded with varied interests. Finally, your essays, recommendations and interview will be critical to your decisions and you must use these components to your advantage to make your compelling case for admission. Be sure to submit an application package that will make the admissions committees want to have you in the class.
