Please evaluate my profile! 680

by cynthiag » Sat Sep 20, 2014 1:46 pm
Hi,

I'm trying to decide whether to apply for R1 or retake the GMAT and apply in R2.
I took the GMAT for the second time this morning and scored 680 (Q42, V41).
My GPA is a 3.15 with a double major in English and economics.
I have 3 years of professional experience and am finishing my second year as a TFA corps member.

I am interested in applying to east coast schools, especially Tepper, but I'm concerned my quant score isn't high enough.

Thanks for your input,

Cynthia

Thanks for sharing your profile. You are bumping right up against the average GMAT at Tepper so this is a tough decision. I think you are close enough at Tepper to be competitive on that side. Your GPA however is also low so you have now a few things working against you. This is a borderline case but if you feel you can bump your score up over a 700 you would put yourself in a much stronger position especially since you have the option of just applying RD2

Hope this helps!

I'd say go for R2 - the deadline for R1 is right around the corner and a stronger GMAT would definitely help offset your GPA (which is definitely low).

Since your GPA is also below Tepper's average (3.3), I agree with Bhavik and recommend you retake the exam.

Good luck,
