I would really appreciate it if you could evaluate my backgrounds. I am currently thinking about applying second round to Harvard, MIT and Columbia.
Undergrad - Columbia University (transferred)
GPA - 3.34
Major - Computer Engineering
GMAT - 660 (49Q, 31V) - Writing - 5.5
CFA Level III Candidate
extracurricular activity: part of the cultural dance group for the local community. (was a dance teacher for 1 year)
Nationality: Tibetan
I am the first in my family to ever go to college and one of the mere dozen of Tibetans to have attended an IVY league undergrad. I will probably be the first (or one of the few) Tibetans (out of our 7-9 million ppopulation) to ever attend a top MBA school. I grew up as a refugee in India. Moved to the United States after my second year of highschool. I have prevailed against many odds to be where I am today.
Work experience: Started off as Mutual Fund Account. Promoted to Senior Account Controller and then on to a Manager in the unusual period of 1.5 years. I have recently moved on to a new role with the same company (State Street) as Credit Analyst.
Please let me know where I stand. In the event that I don't get in (which is very likely), I intend to take my GMAT again next year and apply to these same schools again in addition to some more schools including NYU. What do you think about this?
