My choice is D.

Choice A is grammatically correct but the meaning conveyed by A seems to be that plays by Aphra Behn and the fact they were published in 1670s made her earn a living which is not the intended meaning

Choice B :- Lacking a Pronoun Antecedent "they"

Choice C :- Subject verb agreement error :- Plays by Aphra Behn that were performed by the Duke's Company, was published in
the 1670s, making her one of

Choice D :- Clearly states the intended meaning that Plays by Aphra Beh which were published in 1670s made her earn a living

Choice E :- Subject Verb Agreement Error :- Plays by Aphra Behn which, performed by the Duke's Company, was published in the 1670s, made her one of

Aditya :- The questions posted by you are really good for practice but it would be great if you could always underline the appropriate part in the sentence. This is just a request though !! :-)

this is not correct "performed .... and published ..." are modifiers .the subject of the sentence is still "plays"

I still believe that D conveys the meaning more clearly than A that " It was the plays by Aphra Behn that made her earn a living".

We don't know who "her" is in choice A. In order to refer back to Aphra, you need comma -ing. Plus comma And Published construction is wrong. There's no need for a comma there.

We don't know who "her" is in choice A.
that a wrong concept .pronouns can very well refer to the noun which are object to preposition .official questions are there which prove this fact !!
And Published construction is wrong
that again is wrong .firstly the rule that u trying to say holds for verbs referring to same subject sud not be separated by comma ."and published" is not a verb here .moreover RON has already disproved even that verb rule

Pronoun ambiguity is not an absolute rule but it is effective in this particular sentence as we have another choice which does not suffer from ambiguity.

Plays...performed, and published are not verbs???? Really? Then what are they??

Pronoun ambiguity is not an absolute rule
probably i am the biggest admirer of this line !! .but just to tell u "her" in option A is not that flagrant violation of some rule !

Plays...performed, and published are not verbs???? Really?
is that a pun ?
Then what are they??
if u r genuinely asking then they are modifiers !!

also please read (my last post) even if they were verb then comma can be accepted (said by RON --- i had asked this question to him once )
