Since science and technology are becoming more and more essential to modern society, schools should devote more time to teaching science and technology and less to teaching the arts and humanity.

Nowadays, since the science and technology have became more and more important in modern society, schools have the responsibility to, for help the students to fit the society after they graduated, spend more time on teaching science and technology than teaching the arts and humanity. That's not to say, however, that the school could neglect the arts and humanity and less to teaching them. To the contrary, in technology age the study of arts and humanity is probability more essential than ever.

Undeniably, the science and technology have become a part of our day life. High-tech products have a close relationship with our daily life. For example, it is difficult to imagine how person who doesn't know how to use a computer works in a company, which deals with most daily work in computer. Therefore, schools have the responsibility to devote sufficient time to teaching science and technology.

However, this not to say schools could devote less time to arts and humanities. Science and technology make us know how to do, but arts and humanities tell us should we do. Arts and humanities provide people with gracious spirit. For example, nuclear power, an important success in human science and technology history, has great devotion to human life. But if without the guide of virtue, it can become the most dangerous weapon, which has the ability to destroy the earth.

In addition, another reason why we shouldn't neglect the arts and humanities is that studying arts and humanities can help students become better science .For example, recent studies of cognitive development show that studying music at an early age can strengthen a child's later grasp of mathematics. And understanding philosophical concepts has helped scientist recognize their own presuppositions, and frame their central questions more accurately.

In sum, schools should not devote less time to arts and humanities. These areas of study augment and enhance learning in mathematics and science, as well as helping to preserve the richness of our entire human legacy while inspiring us to further it .Moreover, disciplines within the humanities provide methods and contexts for evaluating the morality of our technology and for determining its proper direction.
