p^a * q^b * r^c * s^d = x, where x is a perfect square. If p, q, r, and s are prime integers, are they distinct?

(1) 18 is a factor of ab and cd

(2) 4 is not a factor of ab and cd

since x is a perfect square,a,b,c and d all has to be even if p,q,r,s are distinct

either From 1 or 2 we cannot conclude whether a,b,c and d are all even hence neither condition is sufficient alone
combining,
since 18 is a factor of ab ,if both a and b are even 4 has to be another factor of ab but from 2 it is not possible hence one of a and b is odd
similarly one of c and d is odd

hence p,q,r,s are not distinct

oopps...bad miss

if 4 is not a factor of ab or cd then atleast one of them has to be odd..we can say from 2 itself that p,q,r,s are not distinct..ans will be B

thanks for pointing out.

btw ..u cannot tell me bhai..sis will be more appropriate :)
