The random variable x is normally distributed. The values 650 and 850 are at the 60th and 90th percentiles of the distribution of x respectively. What's the value of the 75th percentile of the distribution of x?

normal distribution - dont know if it there on gmat or not.

Well whats the answer 750 ??

Normal Distributions are not tested on the GMAT.
However, they are tested on the new GRE - beginning in August.

The answer is that the 75th percentile is < 750. As the difference between the higher percentiles (say 90th - 75th) is higher than the difference between the lower ones (75th - 65th) then:

75th - 650 < 850 - 75th

2 75th < 1500

75th value < 750
