Let x be the original number
IMPORTANT: The difference of 120 is equal to 12.5% of x PLUS 6.25% of x
12.5% = 1/8
6.25% = 1/16
So, we get: (1/8)x + (1/16)x = 120
Eliminate the fractions by multiplying both sides by 16: 2x + x = 1920
Simplify: 3x = 1920
Solve: x = 640

But tell me, isn't difference meant to be one value MINUS another value?
