Each of the students in a certain class received a single grade of P, For I. What percent of the students in the class are females?
1)Of those who received a P,40% were females
2) Of those who received either an F or I,80 percent were males.

1 is insufficient because that info does not tell us anything else about the students with either F or I.
2 is insufficient because it does not tell us anything about the people with P.
Taken together, they do shed some light on the whole thing, but still not enough. We do not know the ratio of students who received P versus the ratio of students who received either F or I, so we cannot calculate what is required.
