Stick with their game plan. You can always 'coach' your references so you deliver the message that you want.

This is not an arena to get creative. Do what they ask for. It is not an onerous task to secure a peer letter, and they will likely have a different perspective and voice vs your supervisor.

I asked a similar question to the judge admission head.
This was his response.
Do you still advise me to stick with supervisor plus peer referee.


@subudani We ask for a supervisor and a peer reference to get a better understanding of how you work in a professional environment. Peer references are vital in that regard. We have made exceptions for candidates who have had difficulties obtaining a reference because of work sensitivities. In those cases, our preference is for someone who had worked with you before but may not be in the company now, or a client reference. Conrad Chua @CambridgeMBA on twitter

They have said that peer references are VITAL. And they are giving you an out if this is not achievable. Can you find a solid peer who you can work with? It sounded like you can?

I can definitely arrange a peer reference.

For all my other applications, I have been using my client as a referee.And he has written some very good things about me supplementing my essays. I just thought his recommendation would add more weight.

Anyways I will find a peer to write something good about me.
