If a certain orchard consists of 36 pecan trees, what was the yield per tree last year?

(1) The yield per tree for the 18 trees in the northern half of the orchard was 60 kilograms last year.

(2) The yield per tree for the 18 trees in the eastern half of the orchard was 55 kilograms last year.

IMO ans is E

Clearly either of the conditions is not sufficient alone.

Combining,
it does not give the data on how many trees present in the north-east region i.e number of trees comes in both northern as well as eastern half..so not sufficient.

Is this correct or now I have become over cautious...

Hi Friends,

The question mentions 36 trees,and the two statement together also mentions 36 trees.i.e northern half-18 and eastern half -18.

also the wording as northern half and eastern half indicates that the orchid has two regions.

So my question is why answer could be E ?

Assuming it is a square field
1) Region 1+2 = 18
2) Region 2 +3 = 18
Still no info to deduce how many trees in region 4.
IMO E
