I've been looking at various universities, and their requirements. Initially, I was focusing on EMBA programs, as they seemed to fit my schedule / work somewhat better. However, some schools, like Columbia, seem to require you to be an executive, which I'm not. On the other hand, there are some universities that don't explicitly state that you need to be an executive for an emba program, like UNC for instance. I have over 9 years of experience, very little at the managerial level, mostly because I wanted to strengthen my technical knowledge before I delve into the management side.
My question is, which program should I apply to? Or, should I base it on what the university requires as part of the respective program. For example, Columbia is geared towards "executives" for the emba, in which case I should focus on applying for the part-time mba, so on and so forth.
