Dear all,

I need a small help with a question that is posted in E-GMAT.

The occupants of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx were called Tainos who live by farming, who were organized into five chiefdoms, and numbering around half a million.

The above is not grammatically correct.

The corrected sentence is The occupants of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx were called Tainos who live by farming, were organized into five chiefdoms, and numbering around half a million.

Could you explain why " Tainos, who lived by farming, who were organised into chiefdoms and numbered around half a million. " is wrong.

I think that above mentioned in red are parallel to each other.

My insight says that 'who' is a common element in the phrases and there is no mistake in keeping the 'who' in these two phrases mentioned above.

" ..........., and numbering around a million"
In the above phrase i think after ',' followed ' and ' should give a independent clause i.e " numbering around a million " should be a independent clause, but there is no subject in the sentence.

Please clarify.

Regards

Ratnakar Chitturi.
