What was the answer the question? I chose C, but I don't know if that's correct. If it is correct I'm not sure my thought process will be too helpful.

I would say its E.May I know the source of the qustion.

E seems to be the one which maintains consistency between the two Sand and Prime

D - You is wrong in this sentence
B/C - No mention of it actually to be painted, it's just about evenly and effectively
E - Wordy construction

A - Is correct

I would pick A as well.
B is alters the sequence of the order and therefore the meaning of the sentence.
C alters the meaning of the sentence.
D You is incorrect in the sentence.
E is wordy.

A!

IT (pronoun) is required to be used here.


IMO A
best captures the essence of the meaning

The sentence begins with "in order to evenly and effectively paint the rough surface". So, any option that uses "to paint it" at the end is not correct because of redundancy.
This eliminates B, C, and E. In option E, the use of "surface" is redundant". In option A, the best answer, it clearly refers to "surface".

The catch here is first "paint" is a verb and next "paint" is a noun.
Hence ,as it seems, "it" is ambigious is NOT true. D\E are out as it(pronoun) can clearly refer to surface and don't need an wordy "surface"

C: Requires "and"
B: doesn't show that we have to first "prime it" and then "Paint it". It merely states "prime it" and "paint it".

A remains the clear winner and should be a OA
