add both inequalities
p+q > 2(r+s)

now we can not assume that p+q is greater than r+s
bcoz the (r+s) can be negative also

let me try with an example

p+q = -1.5
r+s = -1

now
p+q > 2(r+s)
but
p+q < r+s
