Hi guys,

I just took the GMAT Preptest and got this question that I can't figure out at all:

If operation o is defined for all positive integers x and w by x o w = 2^x / 2^w, then (3 o 1) o 3 =

The correct answer is 2 (for "+" I guess). I'm not sure though why 32 (for "-") is not right...

I'm sure you guys are smarter than I... ;)

Perhaps you read the equation in the wrong way, that's what I did.
The equation is just: x o w = 2^x / 2^w
It may be ok now:

3o1=(2^3)/2=4
(3o1)o3=4o3=(2^4)/(2^3)=2
