An area of 3 square inches represents how many more square miles on Map L than on Map K ?
If we want to find an area of 3 square inches, we can make things easy on ourselves by finding the area of a rectangle measuring 1 inch by 3 inches

One inch represents 20 miles on Map K
So, 1 inch = 20 miles on Map K
And 3 inches = 60 miles on Map K
Area = (20 miles)(60 miles) = 1200 square miles

One inch represents 30 miles on Map L
So, 1 inch = 30 miles on Map L
And 3 inches = 90 miles on Map L
Area = (30 miles)(90 miles) = 2700 square miles

DIFFERENCE in areas = 2700 - 1200 = 1500
