Olympics Beijing 2008

by aim-wsc » Thu Aug 07, 2008 10:05 pm
Today is the commencement day for Beijing 2008 Olympics Games. The opening ceremony always gets the highest TRP ratings as it's the most spectacular event of Olympics. I missed watching live opening ceremony of last 3 Olympics (I remember Barcelona, though) I either had some fight or was upset. I regret it when I remember my family members telling me to join them watch TV & I never listen. I hope today I'll watch it live! :P
OK! you don’t have to read my rant & nonsense here, ;) you can straightaway start discussing whatever you like about Olympics, SHOW OFF your GK/trivia. 8), politics, a particular game, debate (ah! why cricket is not in Olympics  )
Tell me, what your countries prospects are? (I know lots of Indian visitors out there; Check out this funny article from Hindustan Times)

I am so excited & I have so many questions for this community members :D But I ultimately end up with only one poll, (& by the way I can start on ly one poll (question) per thread.)
I initially wanted to ask "Which country do you support in Olympics, (in a way which country do you belong) ? " But that was obvious question & so I changed it. Sorry for merging sports like TT & badminton etc. But I wanted to add more options.
I personally like to watch tennis but in Olympics I love to see gymnastics. So I'd vote for Gymnastics.
 All right, enough of me

I think you're missing another big event: SWIMMING!

Very popular sport at least in the United States. By the way, did anyone watch the 400M Men's Swimming Relay? Really incredible performance, Phelps is on his way!

I voted for Swimming. (who else has voted? please stand up :) )
By the way did you know that India has won a gold too  (the word too because it's the first time in the history of olympics that any individual from India grabbed a gold!! so we have reasons to celebrate now... well! India has never been a sport country. :sigh: )

Anyways, it's been raining heavily in western coast of India (esp. my region) since couple of days so we dont get electricity supply for most part of the day.
So not much TV for me... :(

I picked Archery!

Though they aren't on the list both the Beach Volleyball and Equestrian sports are amazing to watch!

Archery is pretty awesome. Anyone ever see that Korean move, "The Host"? Some nice scenes involving archery in that movie. :)
