Which of the following is the product of two integers whose sum is 11?
A. -42
B. -28
C. 12
D. 26
E. 42

I did this with a hit and trial method; I have this feeling that there must be a better way to approach such questions...is there someone who can help us with that :)

IMO : A

I took the Quadratic equation approach

x^2+(a+b)x+ab=0

Now a+b = 11 (given)
ab = -42 (picking answer choices)
hence only 14 and -3 fits the equation a+b=11.

If u see for the rest of the asnwer choices you will not be able to express a+b=11

Eg . -28 (7*-4 or -7*4 ,either case a+b wont be 11)
