The original sentence implies that the human being almost deserves to be struck by lightening but this is not the case. However, it is the original meaning of the sentence. Shouldn't this be the meaning that the sentence needs to stay in. I understand why the anser choice is D but I am confused on the original meaning of the matter and which meaning to choose-even thought the first meaning is wrong.

Also I see that D is better answer choice than C because of a matter of parallelism. Specifically, every nine years ... each year...IS that true?
