My question is [spoiler]shouldn't D require "on" as preposition before Wednesday, or their is misprint in my book?[/spoiler]

D is perfect here .the fact is that Wednesday is acting as an adverb here and it wud be wrong to make an adverb an object of preposition "on" as u intend to make
for instance think of this sentence : he announced his plan today
it wud be wrong to say :he announced his plan on today

in the sentence i wrote "today" is acting as adverb !!
make sense ?

Well, following is correct:

I prepared omlette on Wednesday

Incorrect:

I prepared omlette Wednesday.

Prepositional phrases can of course be Adverbs:

He waited in the car.
