OG 12 Ques

by Vanshika21 » Sun Mar 25, 2012 12:36 am
Because an oversupply of computer chips has sent
prices plunging,
the manufacturer has announced that
it will cut production by closing its factories for two
days a month.
(A) Because an oversupply of computer chips has
sent prices plunging,
(B) Because of plunging prices for computer chips,
which is due to an oversupply,
(C) Because computer chip prices have been sent
plunging, which resulted from an oversupply,
(D) Due to plunging computer chip prices from an
oversupply,
(E) Due to an oversupply, with the result that
computer chip prices have been sent plunging,
--- what else could be the reason to choose ans choice A other than that explined in OG- chronological order

(C) Because computer chip prices have been sent

(E) Due to an oversupply, with the result that

Meaning is the deciding factor in this question. What sent the prices plunging? oversupply.
Due to is not correct in this sense. Hence D and E are out.

Use the "FLIP IT!" technique to find the correct one among A,B,C.
the manufacturer has announced that it will cut production by closing its factories for two days a month Because an oversupply of computer chips has
sent prices plunging

Using FLIP IT tech with B and C, you can find that B and C are incorrect. Try it!

As discussed above Option D & E can be discarded because of the usage of "Due to".

If you consider Option B, there is relative pronoun ambiguity..."which" refers to the "computer chips".. It should refer to "plunging prices" which is because of an oversupply.

But in OG Chronological order has been used.
800 is my lucky number.
