OG says this is wrong because, its has no clear referent. I agree with that. But I also think the "they" in "as they were" is also ambiguous. they could refer to resources or rights and obligations. However, the OG just says that "as they were" is unclear and imprecise". So Am I wrong in understanding that "they" is ambiguous?
Sometimes its hard to say whether a pronoun was used ambiguously or not.
