Hello, I am confused by the explaination given for this question. Here it is:

If m>0 and x is m percent of y, then, in terms of m, y is what percent of x?

The answer given is 10000/m

I understand in the explanation that the equation would be set up initially as x=m/100(y). Then you convert it to y, so that would be 100/m(x)=y.

But then the explanation says that to convert the fraction 100/m to an equivalent percent, multiply by 100. This is the part I do not understand and was hoping for a broader explanation as to why I would do this? Thanks!

becasue the question is asking what % of x - that is why you need to multiply by 100 in the end to get the percent - initial computation is just bringing m and x on one side of equation ... but do not calculate the percent -

Hm, I am not sure I follow. I thought it would already be in percent format because it was m/100 at the beginning equation? So I am undoing that when I move it to solve for y?

I'm just not seeing this at all...

x = m% (y)

Question asking y = (%) of x

Just solve it ... m% is another way of saying m /100

x (100) / m = y -----> this has given a value not a percentage yet until you multiply it with 100

100 (x)/m % = y

where % is 100
so u get
10000/m of x = y
