OG: 10th vs. 11th

I am curious as to how many have had experience with the 10th edition versus the 11th edition of the OG.

I know that the 11th edition is merely an update to the 10th with new questions, and there are more as well, but I can swear that I remember reading on the forum that there was a BIG difference in the two guides.

I am planning on the GMAT at the beginning of next year because of things going on in my life in the next couple of months (wedding, honeymoon, etc). I think that Nov-March is ample time.

Just curious as to anyone's thoughts. Thanks.

So then have the actual questions on the GMAT changed by 25% or more?

Only reason that I am concerned is that the page count of OG11 has gone up by 200+ pages compared to OG10, and there is only 75% overlap.

I've read everyone's experiences and the wikipedia on here and my starting strategy is getting bigger!

OG 10th and 11th

Hi Ryan,
I would read the thread in the "Ask Manhattan GMAT" section about the comparison between the Official Guide, 10th and 11th edition. I do have both editions of the OG. I would also buy the OG Math and Verbal study guides. I think that it is true that at the Official Guide, 11th edition is an updated version of the Official Guide, 10th edition with new questions and better written explanations for each question. I would think about using the updated version first before I thought about even using the Official Guide, 10th edition at all.

The 10th edition has 1473 questions. The 11th edition PLUS the two supplements (math and verbal) have 1483 questions.

Roughly 25% of the 10th edition's 1473 questions were dropped and roughly the same number were added to the 3 new books (combined).

Essentially, they needed to drop some and add others in order to justify publishing a new edition - otherwise, why would anyone buy a new version? There were probably other factors as well, in terms of deciding what to drop and add, but in general... they just wanted to be able to sell more books.
