If x is a number satisfying 2 < x < 3 and y is such that 7 < y < 8, which of the following expressions will have the largest value ?

(A)x2y
(B)xy2
(C)5xy
(D)x2/y
(E)Cannot be determined

suppose x=3 and y=8
then try eavh ption
inly X*y^2 is grtest

therefore for x=2.99999 and y=7.99999
x*y^2 will be highest

You could logically find out the answer here. y > x. To get the maximum value, squaring y gives you a greater value and from the given choices only B satisfies.

obviously y>x so xy^2> x^2y
also xy^2>5xy as y>5.
x^2/y is lessa than even x
so B is correct
