If x and y are integers and

(15^x + 15^(x+1)) / 4^y = 15^y

What is the value of x?

a. 2
b. 3
c. 4
d. 5
e. Cannot be determined

Given: (15^x + 15^(x+1)) / 4^y = 15^y
To eliminate the fraction, first multiply both sides by 4^y:
15^x + 15^(x+1) = (15^y)(4^y)
Now factor 15^x from left-hand-side: 15^x(1 + 15^1) = (15^y)(4^y)
Simplify: (15^x)(16) = (15^y)(4^y)
Rewrite 16 as power of 4: (15^x)(4^2) = (15^y)(4^y)
At this point, we can see that the blue part of the equation works well if y=2
If y=2, then x must equal 2 (for the red part of the equation to work)

So, the answer is A
