Is d greater than or equal to 0?
1). d is the median of d, 1/d, -d
2). d^3 is the median of d, d^2, d^3

Stmt 1 - there are four possibilities of choosing numbers to try this. d = +integer, - integer, + decimel, - decimel. The case when d is a median is when d = + decimel. For example, d = 0.3, - d = -0.3, 1/d = 3.33, thus d is the median. There are two special cases, d = 1 and -1. if d =1, then d is the median and so is the case with d = -1. Hence INSUFFICIENT.

Stmt - 2 - Again using the four types of numbers above, we see that when d is a negative integer does the stmt hold. For example d = -0.5, d^2 = 0.25, d^3 = -0.125, and median is d^3. Using special cases d = 1, and d = -1, d is the median. Hence INSUFFICIENT.

Stmt 1 and 2 - INSUFFICIENT, as d could be 1 or -1.

Hence E

Statement 1:
d=0 gives 0,0, Infinity
d=-1 gives -1,-1,1
d=1 gives -1,1,1

Insufficient

Statement 2:
d=-1/2 gives d, d^3, d^2
d=0 gives d d^3 d^2
d=-1 gives d d^3 d^2
d=1 gives d d^3 d^2

INSUFFICIENT
Statement (1) and Statement(2) combined also gives 0-1-1 as soln so INSUFFICIENT
