IMO tangent, line segment that forms triangle is a tangent to the circle. The point at which tangent touches the circle is the common point of triangle and circle.

A tangent line does not INTERSECT, it touches. Or am I getting it wrong?

frank1: that's 6 points of intersection. I wonder about 1 and 3 points.

technically there is no difference between touching and intersection in this case. So a tangent surely is a case where there is only a single-point contact

3 would be a situation where in the circle with diameter less than the perpendicular distance between the top point of the triangle to its base, and the triangle are hung on the same point as the top of the triangle.
