dont understand if you have got choice A and B right..but the answer should be E. whats the OA??

we know that p ands are integer
p ,s will have to be 3,4,5
now option m =2.9 not possible as m lies between pand s
d)not possible as m is between p and s if m is 5 then s will have to be 6
option e makes sense

Just want to point to out that since option A is root(17) which would mean that the number will be just over 4, I feel that it also qualifies as an answer...

Please confirm why the answer is not option A but option E...

Hi,

whenever you have doubt about the accuracy of a question, you should include the source of that question. (In fact, it's good habit to always include the source, regardless of doubts.)

We know that p and s are integers, so the possible values are:

3, 4
3, 5
4, 5

we want all possible values of m, so let's use the maximum range:

p = 3; s = 5

Accordingly, any number between 3 and 5 is a possible value for n.

Both (A) (root 17, which is a bit more than 4) and (E) (10/3 = 3.333) satisfy the question.

So, either you've misposted the question or it's just a bad question. Again, what's the source?

If the question stem established that the question marks were integers, then choice E is the only possible value. But it didn't. So, as Stuart points out, either the question is bad or else not properly transcribed.
