stmt 1 : s is to the right of 0

Well it may be or may not we cant say this

INSUFF

stmt 2: the distance between t & r is same as t & -s

this has two scenarios
a) r= -s here yes
b) t is midway bwteeen r & -s here no

insuff

combine:

s= +ve

-s will be to the left of s & so is r now both are equidistant from t & in the same direction hence r=-s

IMO, statement 2 itself is sufficient.

distance between t and r = distance between t and -s
This implies r = -s.

Isn't this enough to say that 0 is between s and -s and hence r and s?

No we're not sure from the stem that whether s is -ve or +ve.
Imagine as scenario in which s is -ve and hence -s is +ve and it is also possible that 0 is to the right of t.

Therefore -s will be further to the right of t & 0. In this scenario distance between r & t and t & -s can also be equal.
