I would be quite grateful to get some feedback from you on my profile. I am planning to start my MBA in fall 2008, so I have about 3-4 months for the application process for earliest rounds. So profile is as following:
1) Male, 28 years old, from one of the Central Asian (ex Soviet Union) states
2) GMAT - 680 (V34, Q49, AWA 5.0), took a couple of weeks ago, first time. I believe that this score is fair, because I had taken practice exams 3-4 times and my max score was 680 (I took gmatprep one day before the actual exam and the score was the same - V34, Q49)
3) GPA – 3.0 from Goizueta b-school, Emory University with double concentration in Finance and Accounting. I think this is the weakest point of my profile.
4) Work experience: at time of planned matriculation 80+ months, from which 2 years as a project manager in non-for-profit organization, 1 year as a management accountant in JV in mining industry, and last 3 years as a regional finance manager for MNC (global supply chain manager in agri- products and food ingredients) in emerging market. Besides that, I have over 5 years experience of teaching accounting and finance classes at local university. I feel this is the strongest aspect of my profile;
5) Extracurricular activities: professional accounting certificates, ROTC military training experience, soccer intramural team, speak four languages
Post MBA, I would like to work in a global diversified financial services company with operations in emerging markets. Probably, I would also continue my academic career. Schools I want to apply: GSB, Wharton, Ross, Darden and Eli Broad.
What would you suggest? Is my GMAT score sufficient for those schools (given that GPA is low and cannot be changed)? Is there anything specific that I need to work on profile positioning in application?
