Can you provide more details? Have you taken any practice tests? If so, what have your verbal scores been? Have you taken a course or have you been self-studying. If the latter, what materials have you used thus far?

Yes, I've been taking practice tests every weekend (one of the reasons why I'm demotivated). I've been showing in the range of 25-32 in verbal.I've enrolled in the Kaplan course. It has been helpful although not completely. I've had access to Veritas videos too.

Hi maakya,

Before I can offer any advice, I'd like to know more about your studies so far and your overall timeline/goals:

1) How long have you been studying?
2) What resources have you been using?
3) How have you scored on each of your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Answers to the questions-
1)I've been studying for the past 3 months
2)I am using Manhattan GMAT Quant, Kaplan On Demand Course for Verbal(Manhattan GMAT for SC), GMAT OG'15, GMAT Prep Question Bank.
3)I'll provide you with the range of scores
Quant: 44-47 and Verbal: 25-32
4)My target score was 700, but seems unachievable. Now I'm looking to surpass 650.
5)I've already taken the GMAT in Jan'15 (Score:540). I plan to take it again in the next 2-4 weeks.
6)I want to apply to business schools in R2. I want to start school in fall'16. Thus, I need to act fast since R2 deadlines are approaching.

Hi maakya,

When it comes to evaluating your performances, and how you might best improve, the data you provide really needs to be specific. "Ranges" of Scaled Scores do NOT help to determine how you're performing overall - and we need to define that work - especially from CAT to CAT.

As such, I really need to know EACH individual CAT result (including Overall Score, Quant Scaled Score and Verbal Scaled Score).

Also:
1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you do anything that you won't be allowed to do on Test Day (skipping sections, pausing the Test, taking longer breaks, etc.)?

Here are the detailed scores for all my practice CAT's:-
GMAT Prep Test - Default Pack
1. Score:620 Q-47 V-29 (12th Sept'15)
2. Score:600 Q-47 V-26 (10th Oct'15)

GMAT Prep Test - Exam Pack
1. Score:620 Q-45 V-30 (19th Sept'15)

Kaplan Tests (Dates not provided by the course)
Tests taken in ascending order
1.Score:630 Q-45 V-32
2.Score:560 Q-46 V-21
3.Score:620 Q-43 V-32
4.Score:630 Q-44 V-32
5.Score:630 Q-41 V-35
6.Score:590 Q-44 V-27

Leaving 2-3 CATS, I have taken the entire CAT for the rest. Also I followed all the guidelines that apply during the test day. My main weaknesses are CR and RC.

Hi maakya,

When you say that you have "taken the entire CAT for the rest", what do you mean exactly? On which CATs did you ALSO complete the Essay and IR sections?

GMAC has publicly stated that a Test Taker's Official Score is within +-30 points of actual ability. Your scores are all 'clustered' right around 600, so that's likely your current 'level.' While your initial concerns were about the Verbal section, many of your CAT results point out that you are missing out on some serious points in the Quant section as well.

This is all meant to say that you could pick up 50+ points in a variety of ways (not just in the Verbal section). Pushing your Test Date back a bit (even if it's just for a couple of weeks) could greatly improve your chances of scoring higher.

Yes, entire CAT (With the AWA and IR sections). I know I'm missing out points in Quant, but that's more likely because of silly mistakes, which I've figured after going through the solutions. I am trying my best to work on those. However, on the Verbal side, I don't feel confident enough. I need some guidance and strategy to approach the Verbal section, especially CR and RC. Also I have run out of practice problems. It'd be great if you could suggest some free resources-practice problems.
