Need some guidance on final 20 days of GMAT 60 study plan!

Hello!

I have done all the course work in the 60 day GMAT study plan with the Manhatten books, and I know I need to focus much more on my quantitative, specifically word problems, fractions/decimals/percents, and geometry. I am currently in the 40% percentile:( I am also using the Kaplan GMAT pocket book, along with the flash cards provided in the 60 day program - these are great to refresh on aspects.

I'm looking to figure out how best to approach the last 20 days? Need help with a day-to-day plan so I can absorb the maximum amount of information before test day.

If I am much stronger on verbal and feel good in that area, but how do I balance both quant and verb practice so that I keep up the momentum right now and build upon that? Do I just spend time reviewing all the wrong answers during the last 40 days of questions? Do I do anything else? I am planning on reading once again and reviewing chapters in the three areas I struggled the most with in quant. I am also going to write an Essay every second day, just to feel super confident going into the exam. I have received strong scores on previous, so it's more just a practice and build stamina/confidence.

As well, I am not sure which practice exams to purchase as I feel Kaplan's and Veritas are not accurately scoring me ( always have way higher scores), so do I purchase Manhattan, despite having taken them already (a year ago) as they seem the most realistic or is there another brand to purchase? Can you please provide guidance on this too?

Thanks!
B

Hi Bethrussel_27,

I'm hoping that you can confirm a few details for me and answer a few questions.

1) How long have you been studying during this latest round of studies?
2) What materials did you use this time? What materials did you use last year?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) What is your score goal?

Hi bethrussell,

The last 19 days of the Guide are devoted to taking practice tests (to build stamina and identify remaining weaknesses) as well as strengthening those areas of weakness.

Here's an outline of all 60 emails: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-guide-outline

Cheers,

Hi There,

To improve on your quant I would advise you to study one topic at a time and solve all the questions related to it in a one go.Do prepare some notes of the formulas and numbers.Prepare all the topics in this manner.Once completed start solving only the quant section from the GMAT practice tests.Once you are able to score well, start solving the section setting time limits.Practicing this way will definitely pull up your quant score.

Let us know if you need any further guidance.

Redoing old exercises can certainly help, so long as you're doing them with a level of heightened focus and attention. Don't let a question go once you have the correct answer. Spend time dissecting why the wrong answer choices are wrong. That means pinpointing every misplaced modifier in Sentence Correction, labeling every answer choice that's outside of the scope in Critical Reasoning, etc. Anything that's unclear, post here. Then, if you haven't already done so, grab the new question bank from mba.com to get some fresh practice: https://www.mba.com/us/store/store-catal ... ack-1.aspx

Last, I'm a big proponent of mindfulness meditation, particularly for those who have already worked through a healthy amount of material. Here's a good article about some of the research regarding the impact of meditation on standardized tests: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archi ... on/275564/
