Need some advice

Choked like a dog. Or maybe it wasn't a choke, but a true reflection. Can't tell anymore.

Took the GMAT on Monday. Got a 550. To make things worse I have about a 2.7 GPA.

I am looking at George Washington, Univ of MD College Park and Fordham, all PART TIME. Do I have a shot or should I re-take the GMAT? I looked at the scores for these schools and they are all within the 580-590's range.

I am 31. Undergrad at Univ of MD College Park. I work for FINRA-a company in charge of regulating the stock market.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. I am sorry to hear about your GMAT score. I imagine you must be disappointed given it sounds like you were expecting a higher score.

Usually those with a low GPA look to a higher GMAT score to help mitigate concerns around their academic ability, however, given your situation this isn't really an option. The best thing for you to do is to consider building an alternate transcript - meaning take courses in accounting or statistics and earn A's. This not only helps prepare you for the rigorous MBA curriculum, but it proves to the adcom that you aren't an academic risk. Fordham actually offers a pre-MBA curriculum that you can enroll in to help ease the concerns the adcom may have around your academics.
